Who We Are
Seniorsforhire.ca was birthed during a family discussion while enjoying vacation time together. Family members, all 50+ and from diverse careers and backgrounds, recognized a need that exists in our society. That recognition was that, not only did we as seniors have skills and abilities that were needed in the marketplace today, but also, we wanted to continue to use our giftings to benefit our world. We realized we still had lots to give!
We also realized that we were not alone! All over this country of Canada there are people who, like us, want to benefit those around them by using the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout their lifetime. If given the opportunity, the mutual interests of both employers and seniors would be served.
Seniorsforhire.ca is a meeting place. Here, employers can display their needs and here, seniors can find places of employment which will bring a richness to the workplace where the young and the mature work together to reach the high level of competency necessary in today’s marketplace.

Employers today are seeking skilled employees who possess knowledge and demonstrate qualities such as resourcefulness, reliability, trustworthiness and loyalty. No where can these traits be more prominently seen than in those who have reached maturity , those of the baby-boomer generation.
Due to a shrinking labour pool many employers find themselves unable to acquire those with the skills and dedication necessary to make their business a success. Seniors today are living longer, healthier lives and many desire to continue working after retirement age for different reasons. The rising cost of living has in many cases been the catalyst to lead seniors to consider reentering the workforce. For many the ‘golden years’ have not turned out as they had planned and they once again want to be part of a team that gets the job done well. Others simply want to continue to make their contribution to the good of society.

EDMONTON - For web-savvy seniors, a job may be just a mous click away.
A new website created by a computer instructor at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology is aimed at easing the labour shortage by connecting older, semi-retired workers with jobs.
Called www.seniorsforhire.ca, it's similar to workopolis.com or canada.com's working.com, but it is aimed specifically at seniors.
